Sports Massage.

A deep tissue massage that is tailored to the client for an hour or half hour session. Each treatment differs depending on what areas of the body are presenting with tightness, aching or pain. The massage can also be focused around requirements for upcoming sports events such as 10k runs / marathons / netball matches / martial arts gradings. The pressure of the massage is adjusted to suit the client, with a range of massage techniques used to release tension from the soft tissues. Benefits of sports massage may include: increased range of motion (ROM) at the joints, improved flexibility, improved sporting performance, increased sense of wellbeing, reduced muscle tension, reduced neurological excitability, reduced muscle spasms, reduced pain (acute and chronic), reduced risk of injury, reduced recovery time after physical activity, reduced fatigue, better sleep and improved mental wellbeing.

Pregnancy Massage

A relaxing hour-long massage for mums-to-be in their 2nd or 3rd trimester. Areas worked on during the massage include the neck, shoulders, lower back, glutes, arms and legs. Pregnancy massage can help to manage general aches and pains from day-to-day as well as any pregnancy-specific discomfort.  Benefits of pregnancy massage may include: relaxation, relief of back ache and fatigued muscles, reduced tension headaches, better sleep, improved sense of wellbeing, reduced anxiety, increased levels of “feel-good hormones” serotonin and dopamine for mum and baby and reduced sciatic pain.

Kinesiology Taping

Kinesiology tape has a number of applications including: reducing bruising and swelling following injury, support for repetitive strain injuries, support of the baby bump in 2nd or 3rd trimester of pregnancy, muscle support during sporting events and enhanced recovery of acute injuries. The tape is fine, stretchy and breathable, allowing full range of motion. It’s designed to provide pressure and promote strength in the muscles and soft tissues. The tape typically stays in place for 4 days or slightly longer and will withstand exercising or showering. Common areas where kinesiology tape is used include: hamstrings, calves, wrists, shoulders and lower back.
